Welcome to the Spring 2019 Redbud Topology Conference. This is a regional conference in topology and related areas, with participants from the University of Arkansas, the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, and elsewhere.

The conference dinner will be held at Volare Pizzeria (315 White St). This cost is $15 for registered graduate students and $25 for all others. Payment (cash only) can be made during the conference.

Travel & Lodging

The conference will take place on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma.

Hotel: A block of rooms is reserved at Sooner Legends, with a deadline of April 6. The special rate for conference attendees is $85 plus tax which includes breakfast. To get one of these rooms at the special rate, call 405-701-8100 and say you are with the group "Redbud Math". To cancel, you must do so by 3PM, 24 hours prior to arrival date to avoid 1 night penalty.

Travel by air: The closest airport to Norman is Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City (code: OKC). Due to a high volume of participants, we will not be able to provide transportation from the airport, though we will still try to organize shared rides to the airport on Sunday. To get into town from the airport, we recommend using a ride-sharing app (Lyft or Uber), which costs about $25 one way. There is also an airport shuttle, located outside the lower level baggage claim, that costs about $42 one way. No reservation is needed from the airport. Travel by car: For weekdays you will need a visitor permit to access the parking lots. Visitor parking permits can be picked up in the Visitor Center. Additionally, the McFarlin Church near campus allows free parking on their lot when there is no service. We recommend this option for the weekdays. For the locations of McFarlin Church and the visitor center, see this google map. Campus parking is free on the weekends and street parking near campus is free on Sundays. On Saturday, there will be a special campus-wide event. Please allow extra time to find space. See this parking map for the location of campus parking near the conference.


Local Information

The Friday graduate workshop and lightning talks will take place in room 100 of the Physical Sciences Center (PHSC). See map here.

Local Transportation

The hotel is located 45 minutes walking distance to PHSC and 50 minutes to Felgar Hall. The hotel shuttle is unfortunately out of serice. We recommend walking or using a ride-sharing app. Doug, the shuttle driver, will be around between noon-2pm on Friday, and early morning on Saturday, to take people to campus in his personal vehicle. You may try asking the front desk for Doug first. We will organize shared rides to the airport on Sunday. We will also try to accommodate other needs and requests.
