For the data management pertaining to hydrocarbon recovery, people prefer to focus on data collection with an aim of getting complete and accurate dataset, while the practice of data QA/QC and how to properly use them varies dramatically in different companies and practitioners. This is exhibited in the whole history of asset development. In the early exploration or appraisal stage, an operator of a field usually turns to analogues for qualitative assessment of its potential; at the same time, significant and expensive data are acquired from the field. As the development goes on, more and more data are obtained, and how to properly use them to manage uncertainties and reduce risks in development is becoming more and more challenging. In this seminar, we start with the importance of data management in hydrocarbon asset development, and present how to collect and analyze data from reservoirs and wells; then we focus on the uncertainties and application scales of subsurface dataset, and how to obtain fit-for- purpose data. This presentation demonstrate on how to use data analytics for recovery estimation. The objective of this presentation is get the audience acquainted with the framework of data acquisition and analysis in practice and latest researches in data analytics.
