Grading

Your grade will be determined by homework assignments, quizzes and in-class activities, projects which will be done in groups, two midterm exams, and a cumulative final exam. The weights of each of these are shown below.

Quizzes/In class activities 10%
Exam 1 15%
Exam 2 15%
Final 25% Monday, Dec. 14, 2009   10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Homework:

Homework will generally be assigned twice per week, collected on Mondays and Fridays. Please work neatly, and staple assignments which have more than one page. Late assignments will not be accepted without an approved excuse in writing, but I will drop the lowest two homework grades.

Help Center

The Mathematics Help Center (PHSC 425A) is open every weekday from at least 9:30 - 5:30. You should definitely take advantage of this terrific resource!

Class Work/Quizzes

There will be a quiz every few weeks (announced in advance) to check you progress. There will also be some in-class activities which also count toward this portion of your grade.

Projects

There will be several projects this semester, which you will be allowed to work on in groups. These projects will explore more deeply some area of mathematics which we discuss in class.

You are responsible for reading and abiding by the University's policies and the provisions of the OU Student Code concerning academic misconduct. All cases of suspected academic misconduct will be referred to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for prosecution under the University's Academic Misconduct Code.
