Section 4.4 Question 1 Hint

First use the Intermediate Value Theorem and other techniques to ascertain how many solutions there are to each equation. This should also result in a reasonable first apporximation to the appropriate root. Then use Newton's method (and your calculator) to find more accturate estimates.
