Abstract In this talk we show how to construct infinitely many examples of Riemannian submersions, GB, where G is a simple, compact Lie group with a bi-invariant metric and B is a Riemannian manifold such that B is not the quotient of G by any free group action. These are the first families of examples of this kind and the construction partially answers a question posed by Karsten Grove. This is joint work with Martin Kerin.
