Abstract Independent of my last talk, but in the same spirit, we introduce a notion of partial traces in ribbon categories. Ribbon categories include a wide range of module categories (finite groups, Lie algebras, quantum groups, etc.), and our approach provides a very nice way to unify and generalize well known results from all these areas.
