Abstract We investigate the asymptotic behavior of the principal eigenvalue of some linear elliptic operator with large advection coefficient, and study its applications to two species competition models in heterogeneous environment. This talk is based upon several joint works with Steve Cantrell, Xinfu Chen, Chris Cosner, and Richard Hambrock.
